SHIELDS 20th Year Retrospective

REMINISCE verb \ˌre-mə-ˈnis\  recall to mind of a long-forgotten experience or fact, a remembered experience 2011 marks SHIELDS for Families' 20th anniversary. After incorporating in 1991, SHIELDS rapidly grew from 1 program and 3 staff located in a trailer at Martin Luther King/Drew Hospital to 34 programs and 350 staff throughout 15 locations today. To commemorate this occasion, we are taking a look back at all of the experiences of our extended family of clients, staff, stakeholders and patrons that have made us a leader in helping families in South Los Angeles beat the odds, foster hope, accomplish goals, achieve dreams and become productive members of the community. RECOLLECT verb \ˌre-kə-ˈlekt\ to bring back to the level of conscious awareness  SHIELDS Development Department is in the process of collecting and cataloging SHIELDS memorabilia to assemble a twenty year retrospective yearbook. But we need your help. We're looking for photographs, promotional items and all other memorabilia that reflects the amazing journey SHIELDS has traveled for over two decades.     We especially want your stories; personal stories of triumph, memories of clients and/or staff whom are no longer with us, recollections of major events: were you in treatment during the Rodney King Riots (1992) or the September 11 Attacks (2011), how did the campaign and eventual election of President Obama (2008) effect your journey... we would love to know! REQUISITE adj \ˈre-kwə-zət\ essential, necessary    All materials submitted to the Development Department for the 20 Year Retrospective Yearbook Project will be returned intact to their original owner in a timely manner. It is the duty of the SHIELDS to strictly adhere to HIPPA confidentiality laws. All photographs and any identifiable characteristic of SHIELDS program participants (past or present) must be accompanied by a signed release form.   Click HERE for Release Form.
